TO CATCH A STALKER :: THE DIGITAL TRAIL BEHIND US :: GEEK FREAKS!!

This is really going to freak everyone out! I have not one, but multiple stalkers… And I am not just talking “cyber” I mean show up at my door and build a shrine kind of stalker(s). I am not sure exactly how many there are, but I do know that one-by-one they are being tracked down and will be met with a restraining order and anything else I can do to prevent this from continuing for another year.

**UPDATE:  As of today 01/27/2010 T-Mobile and SPRINT have agreed to go back into their systems to track the individual(s) who had been calling with “Number Restricted” and “Blocked Number” to my mobile number over the last year in order to comply with a Court Order.  The information will be released and I will publish the identity of the individual(s) as the information is made available.  Thanks to all for your support and understanding in the matter and a big “Thank you” to both mobile carrier companies for pursuing this matter and assisting in the end of my torment for the last year.

It all started about a year ago, in December of 2008 to be precise. It began with anonymous flowers sent to my home on my Birthday. Around the same time I started getting strange calls from restricted numbers and lots and lots of calls from a “fax” number. I am so naive sometimes, I didn’t realize that some cell phones can make fax calls. I also started getting these “spoofed” calls – where on my caller id someone’s number I know shows up but it’s not that person actually calling me… or… I would get connected to another call and hear the phone ringing on the other end and someone picks up whom I did not call.

Anyway, the calls were intermittent over the last year, but when they would come in there would be tens of them, one after the other… and this drives me nuts, I am already a bit paranoid about telemarketers and scams that use cell phones and VoIP to terrorize and steal from people at random.

Anyway, the year goes by and I find out that there are 3+ possible suspects some of who are not total strangers:

A. Is a girl I have not seen in 12 years who had the delusion we were in a relationship of some kind in a past life – oh, boy!! – and
B. The other possible stalker turned out to be some psycho girl who thought she was in a relationship with my boy friend at the time, just a crazy girl who eventually called me but was totally delusional and made up a whole bunch of crazy stories that were totally ridiculous and unsubstantiated, that was scary !

Yes, I know!  I am the quintessential freak magnet

C. Third suspect, another dangerously delusional creature who also was operating with a lose screw.

D. Someone I went to high school with who I had recently run into at a mutual friend’s house who I always thought was kind of a freak.

Anyhow, lots of suspects… that is not the key point to my story, the key is that I was going crazy getting all these calls to my cell phone and according to T-Mobile (and then SPRINT), none of these calls could be traced because they either had their phones set to “blocked” (please don’t have your phone set to blocked, it is so annoying!), or they were using *67 and/or some VoIP dialer that couldn’t be traced “that easily”. You really have to become a detective to hunt down various methods for snaring these stalkers and scammers.

I also got strange text messages and a lot of people calling from the wrong number who were speaking in foreign languages.

However, the lines were crossed when my mother’s home phone started getting random calls from private, restricted and blocked numbers BUT this phone that belongs to my mother is actually a land line which offers the option of dialing *57 after a call from a restricted number is received – this will trace the call and can actually be prosecuted as a Federal Crime.

I have several calls that I was able to trace from this landline and that, along with a restraining order, will get me my stalker(s)!

Now, here is something that will freak you all out even more! One of these stalkers actually showed up at my house and built me a little shrine, so here today for your viewing pleasure is a “shrine” of flowers and wax that totally freaked me out!!

Today I got another call from a private number on my home phone line and I am relieved to say it was the last call received and therefor, after dialing *57  was successfully traced. *sigh*

And along with all the woes in Haiti someone(s) out there has nothing better to do then slam my phone and torture me for no good reason.   On a bright note, they all will be stopped… on a somber note… It is so random and bizarre and scary that there are people out there who will go to such lengths to torment people.  It’s very O.C.D. and there are a lot of people out there who need some therapy and possibly an intervention!!

Share your thoughts and experiences with cyber stalking and more!  I am very interested to hear from anyone who was able to find an APP that could “un-Block” a restricted number!!

    I googled some words and your article came up. An unfortunate yet interesting story you had going on. I seem to be having a problem myself. I have a person who has been calling my “Cell” phone, not home phone from a Restricted # the last 3 weeks EVERYDAY! This person calls me early in the morning,7am everyday…as if they have a routine…and they punch dials…to let me know they are there, and at night. They are breathing..it sounds like a man. I really dont know who it is at this point..I dont have enemies. Just a young girl living my life. What APP traces Restricted Numbers from Cell Phones?? This person is not calling my house, so I can not use that *57 thing you were talking about?? Thank you for sharing your story

    Sorry I missed you last week, I was in D.C.at a gig – I think I may be in town until this Weds. and then possibly back on the road until next Tuesday, so maybe we can grab a cup o’ joe then?
    I hope things are going better for you, sounds like work is going well, at least you are busy – glad you got out of that “situation”. As for me, yeah… He basically stole from me – that’s the way I see it. He still says that he ‘loves’ me and that we are “family” haha, what ever that means. Seriously, he and all those folks over there are like grifters! Right? I don’t want to burn any bridges though, you never know. So, I am trying to just keep it peaceful and at least giving the impression that everything is ok between all of us.

  4. Silly Lin! email is nicoontheweb@aol.com I thought you were more tech savvy than that! Yeah, T-Mobile sucks, I used to be with them but I moved to SPRINT, it is ‘ok’, not great but def’ better than TMobile,Tmo shares a lot of the same cell towers as AT&T in NYC so you wind up getting kicked off because of all those iPhone addicts!

    I wound up staying in town – Had an emergency webcast yesterday, I will not be around for a few days…. unless something else pops up! And thanks for the kind words & support, but things are really going extremely well with me, getting back in to the swing of things& recuperating from that entire fiasco from last year… But, that is so 2009 and 2010 is the year we will both ROCK! Big time…. nothing can bring us down now 🙂

  6. Hello “Nater”, Are you stalking me too 😉 How is life at the Office treating you???

    I am on the road and can’t get into this too deeply at this very moment, what YOU are experiencing falls under the same umbrella as “harassing phone calls”and you have clear threats or so you say, what kind of threats? Once a threat is made, be it physical or defamation of character, (i.e. someone is calling you names in an effort to embarrass you or making accusations that are untrue, etc., etc.) you have a very strong case on your side, regardless of whether they are being sent directly to you, or worse yet, to your friends & colleagues.

    The modes of communication are both regulated by the FCC / The Federal Government and aggravated harassment is a crime – Land Phone, Cell phone and Text Message (a.k.a. SMS/MMS) – doesn’t matter which or all of the above.

    Why don’t you drop me a line after I return to NYC – once again, as I remind all those who communicate with me – Don’t block your number & call me from a number where I can call you back based on the Caller ID.

    I think there may be some defamation of character in your case, let’s discuss and as painful as it may be, forward the nasty text messages to YOUR phone from your friends phones and back everything up – that is what I had to do – take pictures, talk to your carrier and see what they can do to help you back up!

    Mind you, a case like this can take a VERY long time to resolve! Up to 2 years!~ And so, even if you get them to stop, you are still living (and re-living) it and dealing with the past when everyone should be moving on. I have done a lot of research on the matter.

    In the mean time, be clear and direct – tell the person to cease and desist, tell them they are committing a crime and that you will seek legal action. It is very cowardly for someone to take their anger at you out on other people by annoying them w unwanted texting, sounds like some “mental damage” so watch your back and check your tub for boiled bunnies before you hop in (Easter humor?).

    It boggles my mind how rampant this insanity is, seriously… I get like 200 hits a day from people Searching online for ways to solve their stalker, psycho caller/texter issues – You’re an SEO guy so you will appreciate that I see searches for “anonymous flowers” and “stalker shrines” and “how to catch your stalker” x20 per day!! I think we have some keywords to position for a whole new website!!

  9. Thanks for checking in Lin, yes I am supposed to have a day in court first week of July, but honestly… I am so over it & wish it would all go away, I am really too busy to deal with this. Of course since everyone “knows” about what happened I can’t just shrug it off the way I want to… Plus, I have to say, I am a bit worried about what will happen NEXT year when you-know-who comes to town for the Holidays, so I kind of have to go through with this, right? At least for an order of protection.

A person keeps riding pass r house sending letters in mail but they keep making fake facebook accounts sending naked pics same message but different pics we think we know who it is but cant prove it im loosing sleep and on antidepressents how do we catch them? thanks please get back asap mr.ward and mrs.ward!!!!
