Another scheduled on-site has been canceled because the latest Engineer assigned to us is “out of the office” until tomorrow – another spike in the proverbial road paved with missing work orders, P.O.’s, wiring diagrams and other such documents that get stuck in the pipeline.
UPDATE: Verizon showed up today and we have a PROMISE TO MAKE GOOD 10/22/2008
Verizon is a big company that is divided up into, essentially, little (mutually hostile) lines of business, the same LOB’s as one would find in any Enterprise organization.
Having had several candid conversations with somewhat disgruntled Verizon employees over the last few weeks, it seems that there is even more discontent within their organization focused on the division of labor and access to systems and information – this leads to internal frustration, true – but at the end of the day, who is really left frustrated? That would be US (You and me)… the end user and CUSTOMER!
At JPMC we had our share of “disconnects” however, toward the end of my service they implemented an approval process and tracking system that allowed notifications and approvals to be managed across the organization from one web based interface.
Granted, this only works if people use it.
Accountability, my friends… apparently the sentiment is when a Union is involved, there is no accountability. I beg to differ, I am sure Union leaders would have an equally torrid rebuttal to the megalith we all know as Verizon and their inability to show up as scheduled.
BTW- The red V kind of looks like devil horns, I am not judging, I am just saying 😉
(Halloween is coming up… So, it seems like an appropriate observation)
